The Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society (UFRIS) helps households and communities grow local food.
We collaborate with other groups and engage with all levels of government to help facilitate all necessary aspects of growing natural food in urban spaces.

When: Launched in January 2024 as a registered society in the Province of BC.
Where: Based in Langford, BC. Serving the Greater Victoria area and south Vancouver Island region
How: Info sessions and event booths, workshops and panels, in-community projects. Engagement with all levels of government.
Why: To support households and neighbourhoods in building their capacity for growing natural food at or close to home.
Who: The directors of this non-profit society are three leadership-minded folks in the west shore: Mary P Brooke (publisher of Island Social Trends), Rob Martin (former Colwood mayor), and Dean Ross (commercial landscaper).
