We hope you will give your pumpkin a second shot at making a special contribution to Halloween.
First as a jack-o-lantern, and then as part of the growing season for next year by including it in your compost bin.
You’ve already gutted out the pumpkins and saved the seeds, right? Either for roasting with salt for a delicious snack or to dry them for planting in your garden next year.
If you got all the innards of your pumpkin, you’ll be using the pulp for pumpkin pie, muffins or pancakes!
In days gone by, many carved pumpkins from Halloween night would end up rotting for days or weeks outdoors, or even be smashed on streets! Now communities have events where pumpkins can be recycled.
