Our first annual pumpkin composting drive has been a fabulous success!

Over 150 pumpkins were delivered to Porcher Park Community Garden by Langford residents between October 15 and November 8. The drive continues for one more day (November 9).
All the jack-o-lanterns — the happy, scary and fun carved pumpkins — are now in our compost bin at the community garden.

As well, there were some sizeable fully intact pumpkins — those will be taken to the Living Edge Westshore food bank.
Thank you to everyone who donated pumpkins, and to our volunteers who relocated them from outside the gate into the compost.
Thank you, all, for composting instead of smashing! The soil for PPCG gardeners will be the richer for it in 2026!
