Porcher Park, Langford

Get ready to grow at Porcher Park!

Monday April 14, 2025 | LANGFORD, BC

The City of Langford’s community garden at Porcher Park will be up and running for growing veggies and fruits in this year’s growing season.

The Operator of the garden is the Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society (UFRIS).

Porcher Park is on Wren Place in downtown Langford. The park includes a children’s playground, a walking trail in mature forest, a seating area, and the community garden.

The City will celebrate their new Porcher Park on Earth Day, on April 22. Time tba.

Volunteers & donors needed:

Building of garden beds is happening in April. We need volunteer carpenters to help us build the garden beds!

We also hope that local suppliers will be interested in discounting or donating things like compost bins, tool shed, gardening tools and soil.

Many people have expressed interest in having a garden plot for growing food for their household or the community.

If you don’t need gardening space but would like to help share your skills at the garden, you are welcome!

Walk the ground in May:

There will be a get-together at the Porcher Park Community Garden in early May (possibly May 10). If you want to see the park on that day, please attend. Time and date to be announced.

After the get-together event, UFRIS will process a selection of garden spots using a city-approved lottery system in five categories: 1. Small Family / Aging-in-Place Senior | 2. Large family | 3. Accessibility Needs (10% of plots) | 4. Indigenous (10% of plots) | 5. Community donation

Sign up for a growing plot:

If you want a garden plot or just more information about the garden, please email to info@urbanfoodresilience.ca to get your name on the list.
